It was drawn by hand. If you want something in that style, take a look at Coronet, Savoye and Trafton.

This is not a true font. Actual fonts were developed for typewriters but not utilized on television in the same manner in the 1950′s.
You can duplicate similar fonts on computer equipment but the I Love Lucy logo was most likely an artist drawing and there were several adaptions over the years. Here are a couple websites for more info.
