I'm a big fan of romantic poems, with Keats being one of my favourite poets. I was just wondering what influences he had of following romantic poets? Thanks.

JC,
According to the Oxford Companion to English Literature (an excellent quick reference, btw) Keats was a big influence on Alfred Lord Tennyson who “considered him the greatest poet of the 19th century.” It also indicates that he significantly influenced Matthew Arnold, T. S. Eliot, and his friend and contemporary, Leigh Hunt.
From my own studies, I know that Keats was an influence on Oscar Wilde, who even wrote a poem titled “The Grave of Keats.” If you love Romantic poetry, you should surely check out Wilde’s poems, as his work participated in the Neo-Romanticism of the late 19th century. Good stuff!
Longfellow definitely admired him, writing a poem dedicated to Keats
His friends (Percy Shelley and Leigh Hunt) both dedicated poems to him, Shelley even writing a poem of >500 lines dedicated to Keats after he passed away.
No one else wanted to write odes after Keats, cause they’d never be able to even compare with Keats.
And Keat’s idea of Beauty = Truth (“Beauty is Truth, Truth Beatuy” – Ode to a Grecian Urn, not to mention his other poems that included this idea – in fact, pretty much all his poems did) passed on to many, many poets, who wrote poems where that idea is visible (e.g. Emily Dickinson’s “I Died for Beauty”)
