What in a young adult romance/supernatural novel would keep you interested and anxious?

Keyword: young adult. No sex or anything.
But what characteristics in a young adult romance/supernatural novel would keep you on your toes?

Thanks, I appreciate every modest answer!
Haha I love L.J Smith and I'm planning on reading those books (thanks for the suggestions) but I'm wondering what traits make a good book. Thank you though!

I would like it if the plot was highly original, and different from other stories that I’ve read.

Lots of twists and turns in the story would make it more interesting, and conflicts with the love interests [or something like it] are a definite must.

I can’t tell if your asking for a list of books or characteristics but i’ll give you both

    Books
City of Glass- Cassandra Clare (REALLY GOOD)
    Wicked Lovely-Melissa Marr
    Evermore-Alyson Noel
    The Awakening- Kelley Armstrong
Blue Bloods- Melissa de la Cruz
    Tithe-Holly Black

What I look for most in a romantic/supernatural book I am mostly drawn to unrequited love stories. There’s always something great about two people that want to be together but can’t. I adore love triangles.
