The world's largest snow sculpture, 'Romantic feelings', at the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival 2008
I have some closer shots of this, but a cropped photo can't express the huge size of this magnificent snow sculpture. Best viewed in a larger size.
The Harbin Ice and Snow festival is held annually in January, lasting around a month. This snow sculpture, entitled 'Romantic Feelings' was designed to be the world's largest , measuring about 35m tall and 162m long.
It was made by joining together 15ft square blocks of natural ice and snow, taken from the nearby Songhua River, which have been compressed to withstand blows from hatchets, saws and shovels.
