Product Description
Three signs that something is very different with your mew man:
1. He sleeps all day . . . which would be annoying except he's so attentive at night.
2. He's attacked by sword-wielding assailants, yet insists he can handle it on his own.
3. He never seems to age.
Heather Westfield has always lived a quiet life, but that all changes when she helps a very handsome, very mysterious stranger. There's something not quite right about Jean-Luc, but still, she's never been with a man so charming, so attractive . . . so wonderful. Now if only a murderous villain wasn't after them, they might get their happily-ever-after.

I had searched for 2 used books from the same seller since my previous orders like this were grouped under 1 shipping and handeling charge. Well this was not the case. Both books came in one package but I was assessed 2 shipping and handling charges. And although the shipping dates can encompass a wide span, all other orders I have made will ship out within the first couple of days after my order was placed. This seller waited almost 2 weeks after my order was placed to complete and ship my order. I will not be using this seller again.

The Undead Next Door
Wannabe fashion designer Heather Westfield is ecstatic that renowned designer Jean-Luc Echarpe has opened one of his Le Chique Echarpe boutiques in her small Texas Hill Country town. She sketches some of his work only to have Jean-Luc stop to talk to her. However, sword carrying assailants attack Jean-Luc who tells Heather to stay out of the fray as he has it under control; still she tries to come to his rescue only to conclude he somehow does have it under control.
Jean-Luc realizes that his enemies will assume that Heather is his current lover. To keep her, her daughter Bethany and her housekeeper safe, he demands they stay with him. As she wonders how he gets away with sleeping all day and her odious former spouse complains about her sleeping with her lover in front of their daughter, Heather and Jean-Luc fall in love. However, he knows he owes her one key explanation as to why he sleeps away the day; he and some of his close friends are undead, but he loves her too much to make her dinner.
Kerrelyn Sparks latest vampire romance (see HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE VAMPIRE) is an amusing tale due to the lead couple whose first encounter is his accusing her of stealing his design. The support cast enhances either the feel that vampires are real (includes stars of previous stories in the Sparks’ saga) or personalizes the heroine like her child does. The story line combines humor and danger as the size 12 woman rips his skin off for being arrogant yet protects him from a nasty villain. Fans will enjoy the gender battle between the vampire designer and the wannabe Texas designer.

The Undead Next Door
I gave it four stars because there is no such thing as a perfect book, there is always room for improvment.
I bought this book along with another vampire book, and although I enjoyed them both, I would say that the Undead Next Door is my favorite of the two. I love the lines that to me make it human such as when Heather thinks in her mind, ” double the danger, double the fun” and then slaps herself mentally; I had to laugh when she compares Jean-Luc to a starship captain, but one with hair. Jean-Luc’s listening to her conversations to see what she thinks of him made him so human, his insecurity making him loveable. He may not be the alpha male that are in some novels, but he’s not a wimp either. He is ready to fight to the death to protect his lady, and willing to do what it takes to win her love.
You meet a family that is at odds from what is seen as normal — a young woman who has been afraid to stand up for herself all of her life and yet has courage when push comes to shove. A live-in babysitter who is seen as the town freak and a little girl who steals the hearts of all who are come near her. Then stir in a vampire who wants to have a normal family and envies this family for the love that is there, the typical vilian who wants to destroy eveyone, the ex-husband who is a cockroach (in more ways than one!) and one interesting story is created.
The secondary characters help to round out this story, giving it the needed sorrow (so it isn’t too sappy) and surprises and you have a delightful reading.
A keeper on my limited bookshelf.

The Undead Next Door
First off, Kerrelyn Sparks is the author that first turned me towards the many vampire romance series, and so I followed her books with excitement. And then she decided to write ‘The Undead Next Door’. This has got to be one of the worst books I’ve ever read. I got 100 pages in and I wanted to use brain bleach on myself so I could erase what I had just read. Heather (I guess, she’s “lager”, but I can’t remember the details too well–oh wait, I can, because it was jammed down my throat about her “size” constantly) is overbearingly flacid and boring. I would’ve rather her get killed by the hero (who’s sexuality I questioned–c’mon, hes a fashion designer? Yeah, and in Texas, the birthplace of cowboys.)
So, heres my recommendation. Read her first couple of books. They are amazing. But when you roll around to this little gem. You might want to change your mind about picking it up. This is reminiscent of Stephenie Meyers’ ‘Twilight’ series. The first three books are entertaining, but dear GOD I wish I could go back and erase any reminents of ‘Breaking Dawn’.
Stay away from ‘The Undead Next Door’, your brain will thank you later.

The Undead Next Door
I have read the entire Love at Stake series and I LOVE them. I can not wait till the next one comes out. I love the characters and the emotions of the books. I found it very easy to get into and relate to the characters. I recommend this series to anyone who has an open mind and is into vamp romance with some mystery added.
