I’m disappointed that the 4 and 5-star reviews “talked” me into buying this book! I was looking forward to discovering a new, interesting author. I’ve managed to read-to-the-end novels featuring simplistic characters and/or plot, as this one does, when there has been at least enough suspense to keep me wanting to know how it all turns out. This novel features no such suspense. I gave up half-way through.

Clearly, the background of this author contributed to describing another part of the world where the action takes place, making Relocating Mia a fresh spy vs mafia romp. Relocating Mia is a well-crafted spy thriller set in Siberia. The characters become real both by their descriptions and by dialogue. What is amazing to me is the author’s attention to detail. For example, the eastern European names make it easier to let the reader’s imagination take you to the cold, harsh tundra where the story resides.

Mia Trentino is an international relocation expert highly valued for her languages and culture capabilities. She is teamed up with Douglas Farland, who is an unwanted colleague on her current assignment. Mia does not understand David’s real mission, nor is she aware of the purpose of Farland’s adversary, Shurnik, a most unsavory piece of humanity. What is David doing there and how does Shurnik fit?

This book is mostly thriller, but also a tender love story. After laying the character and geographic plotlines in the first half of this novel, author Rebecca Lerwill accelerates the pace to the end of the story. As I progressed in the book, I felt the trepidation and danger as the author carefully reveals what each character knows, and later finds out. The last hundred pages flew by for me.

Excellent read; can’t wait to read the sequel, The Acronym.

Relocating Mia is a fantastic read. Mia goes to Russia for a relocating assignment, at the last minute she finds she will have a partenr. Turns out her partner Douglas Farland is not who she thinks he is. The Russian Mafia will stop at nothing to carry out their “drug smuggling ring into China”. Add some romance, and this makes for a perfect read. Rebecca Lerwill brings you into the hearts and minds of her characters, they appear real. Her vivid detail makes the reader feel part of the story. I highly recommend Relocating Mia and its sequal The Acronym.

Relocating Mia is a very enjoyable novel. It is well paced and takes you on an exciting trip from the U.S. through Siberia and back again. Mix a little violence, drugs, clandestine special ops, and Russian Mafia, then add just a touch of romance and you’ve got the makings of a perfect novel. I look forward to The Acronym and more from Rebecca Lerwill.

Review by Carlo Gabbi Author of “An Amazing Story”

A great read, where Rebecca Lerwill brings us a story full of intrigue, mystery and a love story between Mia Trentino, a relocation specialist, and her first ever associate in the relocating business, Douglas Farland. In this operation, Douglas is a freelancer, and appears to be working at the same time, with Mia and with a different secret powerful organization.

Mia and Douglas are assigned to work in Siberia to help a friend, where they are investigating a ring of drug dealers.

Mia, in time, falls in love with Douglas, but soon regrets it, when she finds he has hidden his real persona as a secret agent.

The novel, Relocating Mia, is full of action, spies, drug smuggling, intrigue, and it’s completed with a good romantic love story between the two main characters.

I found Rebecca Lerwill a capable writer and I look forward to read more of her future novels. This is an exciting mystery thriller that keeps you reading chapter after chapter.
