What more can I say about this book…it is “Fabulous”…..beautifully photographed quilts…the designs are simple but dramatic with the vivid use of the colored fabrics. Even if you did not sew a single quilt from this book, leaving it on the coffee table is inspiring enough. Kaffe Fassett’s use of traditional patterns with his “romantic” fabrics makes me want to make every quilt in this book.

Portmeirion North Wales is both the setting and inspiration for quilts in this new book, and the photography is stunning. The opening pages feature Kaffe’s new fabrics close up, followed by the quilts shown against the colorful buildings and gardens which inspired them. There is a tempting assortment of 20 projects, most of them pieced, but this book also features a background story about Kim McLean, the Australian quilter who designs applique and uses Fassett’s fabrics to advantage. I especially appreciate the careful instructions in the second half of the book, beautifully illustrated to show how to reproduce the quilts with the same fabrics shown.

I saw when this book first came out but I have all the rest of Kaffe’s books and I resisted because they can be repetative. I gave in and bought this one and it’s beautiful. I just love looking at it and have ordered a kit. I’ve added it to my collection. Thank you!
