I'm writing a novel at the moment, and as in most novels, my two main characters have a romantic relationship.
I'm just wondering what makes a good romantic relationship? It won't be a typical dating one (I hate those anyway) because the novel is set in the middle of a huge war, so I'm just looking for hints&tips on how to make a decent romance.
It's not a romance novel in the slightest by the way. The main focus is the war, this is just a subplot.
Oh, and the guy is 17 and the girl is 24.

Well, it has to be realistic. Make sure that your couple acts like a couple in their situation. Conflict is especially important, because no relationship is absolutely perfect. Make them have fears and anxiety about themselves and their relationship, especially since they’re a war.
Don’t rush their relationship, but don’t drag it out for too long either. He shouldn’t randomly fall in love with her in a minute. Don’t put so many situations where they come close to being a couple, but it doesn’t happen, because it gets frustrating if the suspense is prolonged (and not in a good way.)
Good luck! :)
Well they might not be allowed to be together. They might be separated. they might be pretending not to acknowledge their situation
