I know that many women read romance novels, and many men look at porn. I don't see men on here asking to get their wives off of the literary sex, so I was wondering: is there a difference to you? Thanks in advance!
Oh, just as an aside, I in my house, we don't care for romance novels or porn, so this is purely out of curiosity.

Romance novels are about reading a good story, romance and people falling in love, and getting to read about sex a couple of times. There’s a lot more to it than porn. I would know – I write novels. Not romance novels, but no novel is a breeze to write. Even in romance novels there has to be some kind of good story to go along with the three or four times sex comes into the picture.
Romance novels do not have pictures, first of all. Second, most women who read romance novels aren’t asking their men to change to become like the men in the novels. We recognize them as an escape and don’t usually use them as a means of getting turned on (erotica maybe, but not your standard romance novel). In addition, most romance novels are about love, not just sex, whereas porn is all about sex and usually pretty nasty, unrealistic sex!
well the novels are more detail then some blonde bimbo having sex and romance and erotic novels are two different things. Women are wondering why their man cant look at them the way they do the bimbos. Books are escapes. Plus some romance doesnt go into detail as an erotic novel would.
I concur. There is no difference aside from the fact that with one the image is provided and and with the other the image is suggested.
There is a plot in a lot of porn, may not be in your taste but there is.
If porn is smut, so are romance novels.
That would be why I call it ‘Book Porn’. Of course it’s not exactly the same; books aren’t as graphic, the stories are more gentle and romantic, most of the time they revolve around a plot, etc. Guys don’t care if porn has a story or plot behind it, and they don’t watch it to see people ‘making love’ they want to see some hardcore sex.
But in general, yes, they are both forms of erotic entertainment.
Protesting against romance novels and banning books make one look like they are against freed speech.
While prostesting against porn is fighting against free speech.
You may not like it, but they are the something.
I believe porn is for highly depraved people (like me) and novels are for regular women, indeed, if a women is a depraved one as well, ……..that’s another story.

The difference to me is.
With romance novels they dont have images of people having sex its just words.
With porn people are having sex and are being vocal.
The difference is plots, visual, and not being able to understand words read, ha ha
Interesting question. I suppose romance is more at the spiritual level and porn is more at primal instinct level.
A romance novel has a plot with a story line maybe some suspense and romance where as porn just has hard core sex, fake women and bad acting
Its very much like men and women in general.
They do the same thing its just that porn gets guys there much much faster.
As we all know women take a lot longer heating up.
One is visual. The other is tapping into your imagination.
The former does not tend to have pictures and has a plot. The latter has pictures and no plot, all smut.
