I personally listen to all types of music (hip-hip, techno, metal, indie rock, r&b everything) and for the longest time i couldn’t understand why people listened to classical music and now listening to the song i get it. Classical music is alot more emotional and everynote means something special. the reason why people my age don’t listen to this is because this genre requires you to think.

I was introduced to this gorgeous tune as the theme for “Reilly Ace of Spies”, aired occasionally on PBS…. often my favorite part of the episodes. I’ve become yet another fan of old Dmitri

I really like the use of the flat 5th note in this song. I thought it was just used in bluesy songs. But it’s utilized much much better here. Really beautiful.

and i am sorry to further ruin your fun of insulting me (even though i am not American), I am christian, but accept all religion, i hate bush, and im not a fan of elivs, i prefer mozart. I do not deny that he is the best, he certainly is indeed, hands down.
at what point did i say i was not moved by the music???? Shostakovich is my favourite of all composers, why else would i be searching his music, secondly I am studying music at university in england, music is my life. You tell me not to be vulgar? i chose to defend other, ignored composers, and you chose to insult me, telling me i had no soul? I love the music, all music, and am not a huge fan of Americans myself, so move on!
good effort, im british, and i chose to stand up for my country, whos composers were ignored, and contributed just as much to music today as the russians, or any others, but ill admit, the russians kick the brits ass! A british composer couldn’t wrote something this beautiful!

Like all Americans pkpete – Our way of the hiway. Christians but not Muslims. Bush is beautiful! Elvis but not Mozart. We were doing civilization when u wernt even invented. Hence take away the Russian and the German and the Jew composers and mate, what’s left? Shostakovitch is simlply the best. Outside classical – well the John Lennon . And the Beegees (Poms) wrote most decent American pop anyway. Finally – resorting to vulgarity is typical of American talent.

Question to you… do you class talent as merely composition of classical music? If not, the America (and many other countries) have produced have produced more musical talent than you can imagine. As well as pop and rock music coming from these countries, America has many famous composers, Eg Bernstein, Cage, Duke Ellington, John Williams!!!! If not, take your comments and shove them up your ass!
